Denis Roy, MD

Dr. Roy is a cardiac electrophysiologist and was Chief Executive Officer at the Montreal Heart Institute (2012–2017). He is Professor of Medicine and former Executive Vice-Dean of Medicine at Université de Montréal, and has previously served as President of the Quebec Association of Cardiologists and of the Canadian Cardiovascular Society.

Dr. Roy was the lead investigator for the Canadian Trial of Atrial Fibrillation CTAF (NEJM 2000) and the Atrial Fibrillation and Congestive Heart Failure AF-CHF (NEJM 2008) trial, both considered landmark studies in the management of atrial fibrillation.

As a pioneer in the field of cardiac electrophysiology, Dr. Roy received the inaugural lifetime achievement award from the Canadian Heart Rhythm Society in 2012. He also received in 2018 the Persillier-Lachapelle award from the Ministry of Health and Social Services from the Quebec government.
